Posting Again2008/10/14 19:16

So my last blog entry was several months ago, and was about losing a friend of mine tragically. I hadn't posted on purpose because I just wanted that entry to sit, and I didn't feel like posting much afterwards, at least for a short time.

The reason I haven't been posting in so long is bacause my job has been nuts. My boss unexpectedly and abruptly quit, and we have not hired a new director yet. So myself and a colleague have filled in as best we can. Given the documentation was laughable (not in a good way; made sense to an audience of one) on procedures or non-existant, it's been quite a challenge. Getting plenty of support from the VPs and others, but still not sleeping as well as I used to. I hold no grudges, but the entire office constantly jokes about running her over with a car if we see her on the street (I'm not the only one to cringe at the documentation thing). I will say that many of the structures left behind were good, and the SPSS programs are, by and large, good pieces of work.

I find mistakes every once and a while, and there are procedures used that are frankly stupid, but I chalk that up to not improving the process because the old one works, and just to get it done, kind of thing.

Still better than my old job though. People with control issues and non-trust. I'll take challenging work, even this kind, over having to deal with a lot of negativity.

Eyes not doing so well. Had been stable for a while, but not so much anymore.

Past all that. life is still good though. Ruthie and the kids are great as always, even with some parenting challenges (having to remind them of chores constantly, even with structures in place to discourage forgetfulness, gets old to me at times). Kids are doing great in school. Ruthie went full-time, which is challenging as only she can drive, but she seems to be holding up well most times.

Enjoying games as usual. More on that later.

Mmmm your workplace seems like a mental hospital.
